Farflung guide to rules, rarity, and strategy

Farflung is a daily geography quiz answered with country pins on a world map. Each expedition has five prompts and one answer per prompt, with 60 seconds by default or an optional 30-second clock. This independent hub connects the controls, territory rulings, scoring, and strategy.

Evidence and scope

Rules checked on 23 October 2026 against farflung.game. The official guide explains how to play; the rulings page defines which country a pin represents. Our strategy and classroom pages are independent suggestions, not official recommendations or reports of tested sessions.

New to the map? Open How to play in the official game menu and choose Practice round: one untimed prompt that does not consume the daily attempt. Read our rules guide for controls and territory exceptions, rarity for the five scoring tiers, or strategy for ways to consider a second valid answer.

After five pins, camp shows your distance and the answers. The official answer map lets you inspect countries you missed. Use the teacher page for an independent classroom outline, including age, permission, and privacy checks.

Questions

Is Farflung a country quiz or a trivia game?

It is a daily geography game. Every answer is a country pin on a world chart. The prompts can be about language, history, animals, or flags, but the pin is always a country.

Is Farflung free, and do I need an account?

The official game is free in a browser. You can play as a guest without an account or download.

Can I replay a daily expedition?

The daily expedition allows one attempt. Practice is repeatable; Past week opens the previous seven days, and a missed day played late does not extend a streak. This is not an official unlimited mode.

When does the next expedition open?

At midnight in your local time. Players get the same five prompts for a given date.
